Since
returning to Fairfield in July of last year---six months ago---I have managed
to gain 22 pounds.
I have lots
of excuses. I mean look at what a broadcaster does. We sit…and talk. Very few
calories expended there.
Kind people
bring food to the radio station to show their appreciation for the work we do. I
don’t want to offend them…so…I eat. And I don’t recall one salad in the list of
edible gifts. It is usually fudge or cookies or donuts. All like kryptonite for
this diabetic….and this extreme weight gain has been easy to document. For each
month, another notch has been needed on my belt.
Well I’ve
run out of notches…and excuses.
Time to
start the year with some common sense solutions….
The answer is rather easy. Eat less…move
around more.
I have to
tell you, it is not easy especially when there are so many good places to eat
in and around Fairfield. I could eat a Sancho every meal…..yes, even for
breakfast. This community is rich in food, which is very interesting
considering that I remember rolling into town back in 1983 and felt the need to
join the Elks because there were very few places to eat out. My, how things have changed.
So, I am on
a three month journey to see if I can lose weight before I have to buy new
clothes….and a new belt.
In the
meantime you will see me at the Bobcat Den in the evenings…..and you will see
less of me bellying up to the trough at local eateries during the day.
And yes….I
suspect I’ll be a little less jovial.
