So, let’s
say, you just moved into Fairfield, and you want to pitch in and help your new
town. There are a dizzying number of options…
There is
Y-Fairfield, it wants to “advance economic development and community
attractions…
Then there
is Fairfield Forward, which is funded by the city to “focus on business and
workforce development,” plus it wants to enhance parks, recreation, festivals
and events…
Then there’s
the Volunteers for a Progressive Fairfield which does events in the park..among
other things.
And the
Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce which also has a Retail Merchants arm. The
chamber does chamber things with business owners as members.
If you are
on-line there are other efforts to either promote Fairfield or spiff it up.
I guess that
so many people wanting to help is a good thing. But maybe you are like me and
find it confusing that so many people are effectively doing about the same
thing. I can’t keep up with the growing
list. I’m sure others must be as confused as I am about the ways these
organizations intersect….or how they don’t.
It brings to
mind the old phrase that starts… “Too many cooks…..”
It makes me
wonder if we might find a way to streamline the kitchen… Downsize the menu….and
stop duplication of effort?
