It's On Us.

Every generation has its challenges.

My grandfather waited for old bread outside a bakery in Nashville, Illinois during the Great Depression. My dad knew the devastating power of polio. They were molded by the events. I never heard them complain about their difficult experiences.

The Depression gave way to an even more challenging event, the second world war. Somehow, the country pulled together and emerged stronger. I’d like to think that is what’s gonna happen with our current crisis.

We have been divided as a nation for quite some time now. It didn’t start with the current political leaders…..but it certainly has to end.

We have a challenge in front of us. And it is nowhere as devastating as Pearl Harbor or polio. Not at the moment.  Like our ancestors before us, now is our time to come together. Our children and
grand children are watching..

We need common ground…..not a battleground.

I look at social media and there is no argument worthy of key strokes right now. Stop getting on either side of the blame game. You can decide that in November. Now is the time to put down our keyboards and help each other get through this generation’s greatest crisis.

I’m confident we will find a treatment for this flu and that our economy will rebound but that is the other side of this hill. We are clearly still climbing….

For the moment, I choose to be like the men below me in my family tree. They struggled and they hurt….but they also pulled together with other Americans to achieve an ultimate victory.

It’s on us.
