Illinois Is Going To Pot

Well the deed is almost done. The Governor has released a 522-page document proposing the legalization of recreational pot in Illinois. He thinks making Illinois a pro-pot state will be a way to turn around the state’s dismal finances.

And while I’m sure it will generate lots of tax money, the state legislature will just find another way to squander it. They were dishonest about the lottery, and they will do the same thing here. The Governor also says this legislation will help minorities…..but the NAACP doesn’t agree. The President of the state chapter, Teresa Haley, says she doesn’t see any evidence of the benefits to the people she represents.

Colorado has had legal recreational pot since 2012 and the facts are clear. The Rocky Mountain state has seen marijuana-related traffic death increase 151-percent---the equivalent of one death every two-and-a-half days. It's gonna get more dangerous out there.

Our Governor is moving quickly….and he is doing exactly what he said he would do. He is merely following through on a promise….the promise to bring recreational pot to everyone. The new law also allows households to grow their own marijuana plants…..along with the tomatoes out in the back yard.

Pritzker will even help you get into the business of producing and selling pot. The state, broke beyond belief, wants to offer $20-million dollars in low interest loans to help you get into the business.

This legislation does not solve our problems in Illinois.

It just reinforces something I’ve said before.

Illinois is going to pot.
