She Didn't Love it, She Left It

Hoda Mathana says she wants to come home to the United States.

Five years ago, at the age of 19, she left her home in Alabama, and embraced jihad. She went to Syria and joined the sworn enemies of this country, ISIS.

Now, three ISIS husbands later, she says she wants to the return to the U.S. and face the consequences. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, on instructions from the Oval Office says no.

For a moment, let’s reflect on her words and her actions over the last half decade.
She used Twitter to call for violence against Americans…at one point actually tweeting “Go on drive-bys and spill all of their blood, or rent a big truck and drive all over them.”

According to Seamus Hughes, an expert in the Program for Extremism at the George Washington University, Mathana-- known on-line as Umm Jihad--- was a key recruiter for ISIS. Her command of the English language made her very valuable to the Caliphate.

On one side, you have the Brookings Institute, which says we should “showcase our commitment to the rule of law” and let her come home. Brookings also says   the Administration is failing to lead…and that makes the terrorism problem worse.
I’m a little more Merle Haggard about it.

When it came to our country, she didn’t love it….she left it.

And I’m just fine keeping it that way.
