I find
several provisions of the HEROES Act, the bill passed mostly on a party line
last weekend in the U.S. House of Representatives, detestable. A 1400-page
document is filled with things unrelated to the pandemic. It is a testament to the words
of Rahm Emanuel, who once said…”never let a serious crisis go to waste.”
The one
provision which jumped out at me was $3.6 billion dollars to expand vote by
mail. I think that is an idea rife with potential voter fraud.
Hidden in
the details, a provision which ensures that all eligible individuals can
register to vote on the same day that they vote. That would start this November
and remain in place for every future federal election.
And here’s
how the bill addresses voter identification at the polling place…or mail
voting…..All I’d have to do, if questioned by an election judge….is swear I’m
Mike Dreith. Trust me. No prior registration. No identification. No way…
Why are we trying
to make the privilege of voting into a sham?
It cheapens
the process and makes it all the easier to have dead people vote.
The mail proposal would send blank absentee
ballots electronically…and must include prepaid return postage. It means one
person inside a household could make all of the decisions and mail in the
ballots.
Fortunately,
this bad idea is on its way to the Senate….where it will die the death it
deserves.
