Hope...and Dope

The offenders have returned to the scene of the crime. In other words, the legislature is back in Springfield for a lame duck session….and they are united on several fronts.

The Democrats have a supermajority, meaning work they do is veto-proof. But that was a given with the new governor because he has kissed the ring of the real leader in the state---Speaker Mike Madigan. It was confirmed yesterday that JB Pritzker insured the supermajority by giving Madigan’s campaign committees almost 7-million dollars before the election.

He bought Madigan’s love….and there’s a lot more money where that came from.

I believe it was Jesse Unruh, the speaker of the California Legislature in the 1960s who coined the phrase, “Money is the mother’s milk of politics.” I think Madigan and Pritzker will be bosom buddies as long as JB keeps the cash flowing…

Together, they say they want to legalize pot because it will mean almost a billion dollars in tax revenue. I remember when riverboat gambling was going to save the state. Pot will only make our roads more dangerous. Roads already full of pot holes.
The dynamic duo will have to change the constitution---a document which Madigan helped draft---to make it legal to collect a new income based sliding income tax. Both like the idea.

Don’t worry about the debt. We have a two-pronged strategy to turn things around. Higher taxes….and higher taxpayers. There’s hope in selling dope.

Oh baby, buy U-Haul stock because the exodus to our neighboring states will continue.

Mike and JB are on the same page.
