The famous
informant in the Watergate investigation said it best….”follow the money.”
So let’s
follow the money going to a contractor with close ties to the Governor of the
State of Illinois, a company called Bulley and Andrews. They were contracted
back a few years ago by the Governor’s wife to pull the toilets out of the
first couple’s mansion. Made the place uninhabitable and saved the Pritzker’s
$331-thousand in taxes. An inspector called it a “scheme to defraud” taxpayers
and the Governor forked up the money.
Since then
the same contractor has earned $9-million dollars in contracts to convert two
Illinois hospitals into COVID-19 centers because the virus was going to
overwhelm the health care system. Neither has been needed. This might just be a
coincidence since the project was done by the Army Corps of Engineers….but then
nothing seems to be a coincidence in Illinois.
But here’s
the most interesting use of Bulley and Andrews. An investigation by WFLD-TV
found the contractors were once again hired by the Pritzker family to travel
into Wisconsin to do $2.5 million dollars in improvements to the couple’s horse
farm there. All while our fearless leader was telling us to stay home. Twenty
workers crossing the state line doing “essential work.” Something tells me the
Governor’s horses live better than many of the 1.2 million residents of
Illinois who are unemployed.
No word as
to whether the horse farm has functional toilets.
Those will
likely disappear come tax time.
