Timing is
everything.
With last
evening’s announcement by the Wayne County Health Department of the county’s
third positive COVID-19 test, it makes you wonder if the events of the week
would have been different if the third positive had been announced on Monday. I
know it is only one case….but still. Stay with me for a moment.
Would the
mayor have announced he couldn’t enforce the Governor’s Executive Order on the
same day? I doubt it. He would have wisely kicked it down road for a few days.
And if the
mayor had pulled his punch for a later day, would the Barb Wire felt emboldened
to open up their dining room on Tuesday?
We don’t
know the circumstances around last night’s announcement of a positive test…only
that it is a man who is in his 80s. We don’t know who it is…but this thing
turns on a dime if he lives at a senior living facility.
If last
night’s announcement had been made on Monday, do you think the health
department would have taken a firmer stand on the restaurant’s opening? And
when Chief Administrator Clark Griffith, went to the State’s Attorney to ask
for his counsel, do you think Kevin Kakac might have had the “clear and present
danger” he needed to step in front of a judge?
It is all
speculative. But wow, think how different this week would have been if only
that third positive test had come on Monday morning?
Timing is
everything.
