Council Observations

I miss the days when I could sneak in the back of the Fairfield City Council chambers and watch local government at work.

..which leads me to my first thought upon hearing the council actually meets in person, but forces the media to listen in on a miserable phone conferencing system. You’ve got two media outlets covering the council. Send Ken Otey in one corner and Dr. Mills in another…..They can shout their questions from across the room afterwards.

..which leads me to say I welcome a new Economic Development Committee. I think there were some good picks, but what are they going to be allowed to do in the name of the city council that the previous Economic Development Commission seemingly failed in doing? I guess we will see.

…which makes me wonder about an hour long executive session to discuss almost every other city appointment. It is clear that some one is in trouble. But instead of dealing with that person, the council has sent a chill throughout the ranks by tabling everyone. They should have just dealt with it on Tuesday night instead of letting this fester.
…which leads me to applaud the decision to not close the 100 block of SE 2nd Street EVERY Saturday night for a church service. Nothing against the church or the act of worship, it just isn’t a good idea. Nuff said about that.

…which leads me to look forward, in eager anticipation, of the start of a Municipal Court in June. This is the first step towards going after owners of unsightly properties all around town.

…which leads me to say..

That's my view and Talk isn't Always Cheap.
