I haven’t
been to Walmart in almost three weeks. My wife has that job. I’m the Sav-A-Lot
guy, she hasn’t been there in three weeks. We need things from each of the
stores…..but we are limiting our risk.
Which brings
me to my pandemic pet peeve.
Carol and I have
both seen entire families getting their groceries at both stores. Two parents
with three or four rug rats in tow. I
know it is a difficult thing to shelter-in-place….but why does the whole fam
need to make the trip? How about making a list of everybody’s needs and have one
person go for the supplies?
It expands
your risk and everyone around you.
I know there
are exceptions to every rule. Say for instance a single mom who doesn’t have
anyone to watch the kids. But my
pandemic pet peeve also extends to our seasoned citizens. Why does Elmer need to
tag along with Ruth? Does he not trust her to get the prune juice? By the way,
I consume large quantities of prune
juice so I know the urgent need for this elixir.
Walmart’s
stated policy is to only allow five customers for every thousand feet of floor
space. It doesn’t appear anyone is counting at our local store. But if they
did, a family of five would soak up a thousand feet of the store. It’s not wise
or necessary.
I know my
pandemic pet peeve is picky.
I get this
way after weeks of confinement.
