Here is the
reason why Supreme Court appointments are so important.
It took a conservative
majority to make a common sense ruling in the case of Russell Bucklew. This is
a case out of Missouri.
Bucklew was
convicted of shooting and killing a man who was dating his old girlfriend. But
that’s not all. Bucklew then kidnapped the woman, raped her repeatedly and shot
at her 6-year-old child. He ultimately led police on a car chase complete with
a shoot-out with officers. Appropriately Bucklew got the death penalty for his
mayhem. He got to the Supreme Court because he claimed to have a health
condition making lethal injection too painful. He claimed to have a tumor in
his throat which would likely burst shortly after lethal injection—causing him
to choke---and depriving him of oxygen for up to four minutes. The audacity…...like
his victims went pain free…on the contrary, they suffered mightily.
Bucklew went
all the way to the Supreme Court claiming he should be allowed to inhale
nitrogen instead of being injected with lethal chemicals. Thank God for five sane
justices. Judge Neil Gorsuch, writing for the majority, said Bucklew’s claim
wasn’t supported by either the law or the evidence.
Remarkably,
a murder-rapist who shot at cops wanted to die pain-free…and four justices agreed
with him. Do you see the lunacy?
Clearly
justice is deaf, dumb and blind….at least for four members of the Supreme
Court.
The Supreme Court has become a political body like Congress. The only votes that you'll see that aren't 5-4 are for the flag, mom and apple pie. Anything harder that that will be on party lines.
