I can’t get
warm about any of the choices for Governor.
You pick the
incumbent, more gridlock. You pick the other rich guy in the race, you get more
taxes. I’m leaning toward writing in “none of the above.” Both candidates are
filthy rich. J.B Pritzker is worth north of three billion dollars---Bruce
Rauner is worth several hundred million dollars. Which goes to show you, money
isn’t everything.
That brings
us to an inexplicable story that might give us insight as to how you get so
rich. J.B. Pritzker says he will pay $330,000 in taxes he owes on a mansion in
Cook County. The Pritzker’s ripped the toilets out of the 12,500 square foot,
three story home in order to have it appear “unlivable.” It became a Game of
Thrones. He probably had ten johns in a space that big. That got him a huge tax break. I think it gives
us real insight into the next Governor and first lady’s minds. And it’s not
pretty.
Do either of
these candidates understand the lives we live in Fairfield, Illinois? Even
remotely? The answer is simply, no.
Here’s a
little information for you. I have one toilet. One. And if I yanked it, the tax
bill would undoubtedly remain the same.
There’s
rich…and then there unbelievably rich. When you reach a certain strata where
the interest on your money could run our city government for a year….you cease
to understand the plight of people who are trying to figure out how they are
going to pay their property taxes.
I don’t hate
rich people. I admire them if they made their fortune. I just expect them to be
able to relate to the problems of the average person in southeastern Illinois.
These two
guys don’t have a clue.
There are two other candidates on the ballot. In particular, Illinois would be lucky to have Kash Jackson elected.
