Confrontation on the Southern Border

Depending who you believe, somewhere between three to five thousand Central Americans have banded together and are rolling through Mexico on their way  to our southern border to arrive….right around election day. Isn’t that coincidence?

These are folks who hate living in their homelands who are seeking asylum in Mexico and of course the United States. So far, Mexico seems more willing to help escort them to our border than find a place for them in their country.

Look, I am the great grandson of an immigrant who passed through Ellis Island. He came from Germany by way of Russia. David Dreith was a legal immigrant into America, where he learned English and raised his family to be assimilated into our culture. That’s not what’s happening in Mexico at this moment.

This is a group of people bent on breaking through our border, or at least to synchronize their arrival, during a midterm election. And make no mistake about it…..the people who elected Donald Trump liked his idea of building a wall. They liked the idea he wanted reforms to legal immigration. They are tired of paying the bill for millions of illegal immigrants who have turned places like California into a third world country.

For those bleeding hearts who want to take in all 5000 because it is the humane thing to do----go take care of the estimated 7000 homeless folks in San Francisco. They go number one and number two on the sidewalks of what-was-once a great American city. It’s hard to fathom.

One thing I can guarantee. Trump is not letting this northbound brigade into our country. That would be political suicide for him. He tweeted yesterday that the band should seek asylum in Mexico, because they won’t get it here.

I think he means it.
