Urban Meyer is the head coach of THE Ohio State Buckeyes..at least he was until recently. 

Now he is on paid administrative leave. Meyer is one of the most successful college football coaches in the country and makes a salary of $7-million dollars a year.

But three years ago, one of his assistant coaches allegedly engaged in abusive behavior towards his wife. All of this came to light when the now ex-wife of the assistant was granted an order of protection. The woman said she told stories of her abuse to Urban Meyers’ wife, who is also an employee of the university.

The coach has been asked about this by reporters since 2015. He now admits he lied to the media. And he says, yes, he knew about the allegations but says he followed university policy. Remember that fact. He says he did the right thing. The university has put him on leave and commissioned a six-person investigative committee to investigate. Three members of the board of trustees will join three outsiders.

So, what’s gonna happen? 

Well the rest of the Big Ten is hoping he gets sacked. OSU is a football juggernaut. The team has won 73 games since Meyer showed up in Columbus, and lost only eight games. 73 wins. He also won a national title and two Big Ten league championships.

My prediction? 

Remember he said he “followed university procedure.”That means he is passing the buck….or in this instance……passing the buckeye up the chain of command. He has covered his butt.

I think Meyer survives this. His wife is going to lose her teaching job for not reporting it to her boss. The Athletic Director or some Vice President at OSU is getting sacked. Someone is going to pay. But not Urban Meyer. He’s the coach of the number three team in the country, pre-season,  

My money is that he will get his money and run out of the tunnel on September 1^st as the Buckeyes host Oregon State.
