As the
General Manager of this radio station, I want you to know I am working under a self-imposed
mantra. We are making real changes to programming…..real fast.
And you have
a role in this renovation. If you have suggestions or ideas for the future of
any of the four stations clustered in Fairfield, I encourage you to go to our
Facebook page and add your voice.
I’m asking
for your input….but I am also asking for your patience as I learn the operation
and assess the programming. But you should already hear a change. And there’s
more coming.
I have a
passion for radio and I understand the advantage we have when it comes to news
in particular. We don’t have to typeset it, prepare it for a camera and put it
on a press. We just open a mic.
Local news
and events are the difference between this product and my satellite radio app
on my phone. Sirius can’t walk into the local cop shop and get the news from
overnight. They don’t care about an obituary from Albion. That’s the difference
that is our great advantage.
WFIW has
been the centerpiece for over 50 years and it will continue to be the flagship.
WOKZ delivers a very popular country format with the Cardinals….and we have a
great opportunity with the duplication of the AM 1390 news/talk format on 103.3
FM. It has so much potential. And we plan on mining it.
The core of
our mission can and should be wrapped up in one word.
Service.
We must be
driven to serve our listeners, the communities where we are heard…and our
business partners.
We have work
to do.
Real
change….real fast.
I really feel that Wayne County news should come first. I don't really care who had been arrested in Mt. Carmel and Carmi,(other than the "Great Escape" from White Co Jail that we had recently). I think it took two days to find out who the homecoming queen was last year. I like Tom Lavine's show. It's informative and entertaining. I think Mark is doing a great job and trying to be a "local" even though he's not a native. Hope this helps!
