I remember –a few weeks ago--the reaction when I
connected with a moving company in Mt. Vernon to get a quote on moving our
possessions from West St. Louis to Fairfield.
He seemed to be in a state of disbelief that I was moving
“into Illinois.” I got a great price, by the way….and an insight into what is
happening in our state.
A recent study ranks
Illinois as the No. 1 most moved from state in the union.
According to a National Movers Study, more residents moved out of Illinois than into Illinois, with 63 percent of moves being outbound.
In 2017, Illinois moved up one spot on the outbound list to No. 1. The trend continues.

My nephew and namesake
took his wife and baby girl out of Chicago to relocate in South Carolina. Why?
Crime in the Chicagoland area…and oppressive taxes in Cook County.
The climate is another
downer for the Prairie State. Its either oppressively hot…..or terribly cold. But
we can do nothing about that….
What can we do to change
this troubling trend?
Simple. Vote for term
limits so festering sores like Speaker of the House Mike Madigan is sent
packing.
Preferably out of the
state.
