On Monday,
fifteen Democratic members of the Illinois Legislature issued a statement
concerning the ongoing violence in Chicago. That was a welcome message. The
disturbing thing is there are 113 Democrats in the state legislature. Only 15
support the cops in the Windy City?
While
several don’t agree with the idea that the Chicago Police Department has been
subjected to a “well-organized and unprovoked attack while trying to maintain
order.” That is exactly true.
Let’s be
honest. It takes guts for any Democrat to be pro-police these days. It is
counter to everything the party currently stands for.
Democrats
are in total control of the city’s politics and they are making Chicago the
next Detroit. The Cook County state’s
attorney leads the way against public order. She has dismissed felony charges
brought by police at a rate 35-percent higher than her predecessor. The Mayor is also responsible. When mobs
attacked police and tried to take down a statue of Christopher Columbus, she
refused to defend….and decided to take it down under cover of darkness.
Then there’s
the Governor. During the first round of looting he only called up enough
National Guard troops to defend downtown. Looters just fanned out to other
targets around Chicagoland.
Fifteen
brave souls are standing with Chicago’s finest.
They see the
difference between peaceful protest and mob violence.
The rest are
blind.
