I have an
update on what I think is a terrible mistake by Major League Baseball. They
have abdicated their authority, granting individual teams the right to have
individual policies when it comes to refunding tickets to cancelled games.
I was
supposed to be in Milwaukee over the weekend to watch the Cardinals and the
Brewers. I paid for it.
The
Cardinals, one of the class organizations in professional sports, automatically
refund single game ticket purchases made by fans through the end of May. We all
know there won’t be any baseball in May.
The Cubs and
the White Sox are a little less cool about the whole thing. But they will
refund single game tickets until the end of May if the ticketholder requests
it.
The Brewers
owe me $700 bucks. I bought tickets for three couples. It was easier that way.
They want to make this as difficult as possible for me. I must apply for my
money on-line. And at this point they are only honoring tickets sold for April
games. Nothing for me. My games were in May. I get to pound salt.
I foolishly
decided I wanted to see the Cardinals in Milwaukee for my birthday. I should
have waited for them to come to St. Louis where I would have enjoyed one of the
best fan experiences in professional sport…
When
baseball returns, I will root for the Cardinals and whoever is playing against the
Milwaukee Brewers.
