Tuesday was
filled with breaking news. One story cascaded into the next.
Mandy Bell
at the Barb Wire Grill says she heard the Mayor say he wouldn’t enforce the
governor’s executive order. That’s when she decided to open her dining room at
50-percent capacity. There were a series
of complaints to the health department and State’s Attorney Kevin Kakac.
I wouldn’t want to be Kakac trying to convince a judge there was a real and
present danger here. With only two COVID-19 positives, both of which out of
quarantine, that’s not a winning hand.
So, Bell is open again today.
Then the
Governor announced a phased regional plan to restore Illinois. I studied it and
can’t see us moving to a place where we can have more than 10 people together
until July, if then.
That’s only
a whisper away from school, football games and during all that time----no
church services in our sanctuaries or family funerals at our funeral homes.
The Governor
also grouped us in the same region as the
Metro East---Madison and St. Clair counties. Our numbers will be skewed. Wayne
County is not the Metro-East.
The
whirlwind continues. It’s only Wednesday. Things are heating up.
