State Representative
Darren Bailey was in Albion last night with many others beating the drum
concerning Illinois Senate Bill 107. He’s been on tour around his district
since it was introduced.
Simply
stated, Chicago Democrats want our guns. At the very least, they want every gun
that has a pistol grip and uses a magazine to be registered. You could only
keep your gun if you register the weapon’s make, model, caliber and serial
number with state police. And, of course, you would have to prove you have a
Firearm Owner’s ID card. And you need proof of a locking device for the gun. In
order to register, you have to pay $25 per gun. If you don’t…you’ll get hit
with a Class 3 felony which carries a prison sentence of up to five years.
When they
had a similar meeting down in Enfield a few weeks ago, both the White County
State’s Attorney and Sheriff said they were against it.
The NRA in
Illinois has asked its members to contact their state senators to express their
displeasure with the proposed law. Our Senator is Dale Righter, who is opposed
to the measure.
Not only
does this bill run counter to the second amendment….it clearly targets those of
us who follow the rules and use our firearms in a lawful way. I’ve got a FOID
card. Do you think the thugs on Chicago’s south side do? Do you think those
same thugs are going to register any of their artillery with the state police?
No, this
duckhead proposal is only going in place to dog us---in Southern Illinois.
Representative
Bailey says SB 107 is unenforceable, unconstitutional and unacceptable.
I can’t
help but agree.
