For those of you that know me, I guess I'm best known for my media background and my 23 years in community colleges in both Illinois and Texas. My life has been a series of gambles and my work ethic has allowed me ultimately survive to be where I am today....as the president of the fastest growing community college in the Great Republic of Texas....Western Texas College.
I have been married twice. My first marriage produced three sons who I dearly love. My current marriage is to my best friend. Carol and I were led to each other by devine destiny. We both had baggage but we both were willing to trust and love again.
I don't have many friends anymore. They left me when I left Bethalto, Illinois, my hometown of 44 years. I dearly loved Bethalto...but in the end....Bethalto didn't much love me. That's OK. It led me to Fairfield, Illinois where I thrived for six years as the president of Frontier Community College and got the great gift of meeting Carol.
When we met I asked her what she wanted to do with the rest of her life. She said she wanted to be an occupational therapist and move to Texas. "Why?" I asked. The answers were simple. She wanted to become a healthcare professional and live closer to George Strait. I was OK with that.
Texas is a remarkable place and I am so grateful for her desire to be here.
I know I've lived a charmed life and I am grateful for my faith and the many blessings that have come my way. I hope to share a few insights in the coming weeks and months.
As I used to say for so many years back on the radio.....that's my story and Talk Isn't Always Cheap.
Welcome to Blogland, Mike. Glad you're joining us. We miss you and Carol in FF. Looking forward to reading more. Blessings! :)
