The economic
carnage continues for Southern Illinois.
Sparta is
reeling after a decision was handed down earlier this week which effectively
cancels the biggest shooting event in the world.
Governor J.
B. Pritzker cancelled the annual Grand American World Trapshooting
Championships this week costing the southwestern Illinois economy over $20-million
dollars. He announced it after he visited….getting out of the area before the
cancellation was given to media. In the release, the IDPH said “without a
vaccine” these kinds of decisions will continue to be made. Even the most
optimistic assessment doesn’t see a vaccine before 2021.
The event
promptly relocated to Missouri where there are few restrictions on everyday
life. Remember when partiers in the Lake of the Ozarks were going to die in
Missouri? It just didn’t happen.
Organizers
of the Grand American had a very detailed 41-page plan to keep everyone safe.
No spectators would have been allowed. Masks would have been worn…
temperatures
taken. If the Governor is hanging his hat on a vaccine before he allows real
commerce in the state….Missouri, Indiana and the rest of the Midwest will eat
our lunch.
Do you think
guns had anything to do with the decision? It wouldn’t surprise me. Pritzker is
not popular with gun dealers. And after this week…he’s not real popular in the
shooting sports.
It is
obvious that something has to give.
This
Governor has way too much power.
