All In?

I wonder, if the people who so passionately support the Governor’s Stay-At-Home order know of the hypocrisy of the state’s first family.

According to a piece written by Pulitzer prize winning author Mark Konzol, we haven’t heard much from the first lady and first daughter because they are ignoring the order, flying by private jet to the Pritzker’s $12-million dollar horse farm in sunny Florida.  While J.B. Pritzker continues to hit us with Illinoisans being “all in,” wife M. J. isn’t.

She could have chosen their home in Wisconsin or the family estate in the Bahamas…but she decided to go to their equestrian estate. Billionaires naturally deal with pandemics differently than the rest of us schmucks…but then most billionaires are not the chief executive of a state…a state which he has locked down.

As Konzol put  it…”there’s no getting around the ironic, political intrigue of Illinois’ first lady quietly spending time out of the public eye at one of the family vacation homes while so many non-billionaires financially and emotionally struggle under her husband’s newly extended coronavirus stay-at-home order, the second longest in America.”

But then M. J. Pritzker isn’t alone. According to the IRS, since her husband took office, over 24,000 Illinoisans changed their address to Florida….permanently.

I wish Mrs. Pritzker all the best. I also wish her husband would stop asking me to be “all in.”
