I love my
wife. We have always spent a great deal of time together but….now we are
starting a stretch when we will be spending even more time
together.
That didn’t
concern me until Sunday when we were observing the new “stay-at-home” rule.
Carol decided to claim a spare bedroom in our house as her new operations
center for her job. This is in addition to her “she cave.” Carol says she needs
to report to the new room for her job.
The staging
of the new operations center took 90 minutes. She didn’t request my presence,
she demanded it. You see, as shocking as it may seem to those of you who know
her, Carol likes to be in charge when it comes to domestic projects.
I just don’t
really take orders that well. Especially when I can’t---by order of the
Governor---escape.
My task
Sunday was to be her “swamper.” That’s a term well known within in her family. It is akin to “indentured servant.” She wanted a rug under
the bed in the new operations room. First, the bed had to be disassembled. Mind
you, this is in a room where the bed fills 85-percent of the room.
She barked.
I barked back. The dogs could hear us. It confused them, so they barked. There
was a lotta barking going on before that bed got put back together over the
stupid rug, which now is not visible. It's covered by the bed.
I’m sure
there will be other projects in the next few weeks.
I’m also
sure I will be needed a great deal at the radio station where I am an essential
employee….thank God.
