Tiger Is Not Medal-Worthy

I’ve got a little heartburn concerning a tweet from the White House about golfer Tiger Woods, who made a remarkable comeback over the weekend in winning his fifth Masters title.

The President says he will award Tiger the Presidential Medal of Freedom. I don’t think he is deserving.

So we are just going to forget that Woods is one of the most famous and prodigious philanderers of our time. I mean, this guy had an endless list of floosies in every city. He has been arrested for DUI….a charge later reduced to reckless driving. Countless advertisers dropped him like a bad habit.

Woods had it all…a beautiful wife, children, all the money in the world…and he stupidly couldn’t keep his pants on. I get the same nauseous feeling when people speak in glowing terms about the legacy of Bill Clinton.

People who can’t honor their vows, can’t be trusted. Period.

Because Tiger won his first major golf tournament in eleven years, he will get a ceremony in the Rose Garden, and a nice shiny medal to wear. The highest civilian award handed out in the United States. The medal is awarded for “an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private sector endeavors.”

Does that describe Tiger Woods to you?

I think he’s a mighty fine golfer who likes chasing skirt.

Hardly a “meritorious contribution” to our society.
