Rigid....Yet Flexible

The Illinois legislature has a heart. Now, they just need a brain.

Late last week, the House passed a bill that will insure the eligibility of illegal aliens and transgender students to receive Monetary Award Program---also known as MAP money--- from the state treasury.

So let’s get a couple of things out of the way… Notice I used the words illegal alien. That’s not cool on the coasts. They prefer undocumented. I prefer illegal.

Next, I don’t care what you want to be….male, female, a combo package….it is truly none of my business or concern. But if you are using your sexuality to jump to the front of the line, it bothers me. Apparently, transgenders have a difficult time filling out a Selective Service form that asks them if they are male….or female. There isn’t a place to explain a transition from one to the other.

The measure would require about 9-million more dollars in scholarship money to people who have not sought citizenship…or have refused to fill out their selective service forms. Neanderthals like me can’t understand that way of thinking.

The budget before our lawmakers is already $3-billion dollars out of whack.

State broke? Not a problem. You don’t have a green card? We can look the other way. Not going to sign up for Selective Service?  That’s OK.

Here in the “Land of Lincoln” we like to think of ourselves as rigid…yet very flexible when it comes to money and breaking federal laws.
