“Chicago
Justice” is a television show…..it is also a way to explain yesterday’s
inexplicable turn of events for Jessie Smollet. You remember him. He’s the
actor who claimed he got jumped by two Trump thugs on Chicago’s south side.
He told
authorities he was accosted in the early morning hours of January 29th
by two guys wearing red hats shouting racist and homophobic slurs as they beat
him and slipped a noose over his neck.
Chicago
Police found that Smollet paid his attackers---with a personal check---staging
the entire incident to get sympathy. Police spent up to six figures investigating
the matter. What a waste.
Yesterday
the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office dropped 16 felony counts good for 48
years in the slammer. Gone. A spokesperson said his volunteer work in Chicago
and forfeiting his $10,000 bond was good enough. Smollet’s record was wiped
clean.
Police were
predictably livid. Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel called it a “whitewash of
justice.” He should know…
What’s the
clear message here?
I don’t
think there is any doubt if Smollet had been white and conservative….he would
be seeing the inside of the Illinois Department of Corrections. The States
attorney threw the police department under the bus…which plays just fine with
many in the Windy City.

They don’t
call it “Crook” county for nothing….
