New Year's Thoughts

Happy New Year!

I’m glad to be back in the commentary business after taking a few days off.

As I personally reflect on 2018, I can say it was whirl wind for the Dreiths. We experienced some very stressful times-----moving lock, stock and barrel to Fairfield, starting new jobs and losing a child. It was difficult.

The one thing we kept saying during the trials and tribulations was: Man, we are glad we moved back to Fairfield. We were so tired of the St. Louis lifestyle…We so appreciate the people here and our life now as we enter 2019.

One of the changes as we start the New Year will be the absence of our prime consultant here at the radio station----Dave Land. Dave is a treasured friend who gave of his time freely over the last six months as we re-tooled the station, using ideas and techniques----many of which barrowed from his family’s longtime ownership of WFIW-WOKZ.

Dave is a unique person. He is exact and precise. His attention to detail was needed when he volunteered to consult. His help was valued by all of us. And I wish him well as he strides back into retirement mode.

One of the things that have always baffled me is the lack of appreciation for the Lands’ efforts in the community. His wife Kathy founded The Clothes Line. Dave is a regular helping at the hospital and both are very active in their church. God Bless them.

As for 2019, I think we are ready to prosper here at the station. We have key people in place. We know the power of our stations and our social media platforms and we are committed to serve this region of Southeastern Illinois.

I wish for you a safe and productive 2019.
